Les Mis & The French Revolution

Les Mis takes place after the French Revolution and therefore it includes impacts that were left because of the French Revolution. For example, when the Bishop said he was going to visit an old member of the convention, everyone around him was worried. This is because the French Revolution was very violent and the member almost voted for the death of the king in addition to being a revolutionary, which had made him even more violent in the eyes of the people. Another impact that the French revolution left which we see reflected in the book is the tons of people that are hungry, needy, or injured. Most of the first part of Les Mis focuses on how kind the bishop is to the needy and the book starts off with the bishop giving up his home to make it into a hospital.
