Okay, so this chapter of Les Mis had me confused and I feel like I did not understand it very well. However, what I did understand was that the Bishop was not a powerful man, he stood in the shade instead of the spotlight. This was not important though, what was important though was the fact that the Bishop prayed, he prayed and he loved. A humble man, yes, but he was full of love and very kind.
