There were a couple reasons that the people of France revolted against their king, but I believe the main reason was to finally say "no" and stop a form of government that did not protect its most powerless citizens and in fact, was made to work against them. This government heavily taxed them, gave them few rights, barely a voice in congress, and in general, mistreated them terribly. It is quite sad when you realize that a government like this still exists in the United States and is oppressing people of color while rewarding the rich.
