Les Mis Ch 4

In ch. 4 of Les Miserables, the Bishop indeed has a strong negative response to the death penalty, he is pale and calm in the worst way possible. This signals to the reader that the author must have a strongly negative attitude to the death penalty as well. My opinions on the death penalty are complicated but I strongly oppose it. No human has any right to end another person's life, it is morally wrong, even if that person has killed a dozen others. If you kill someone because they killed another person, how are you any different? You are just continuing the cycle of killing and suffering. Let them live to learn from or try to fix their mistakes. I stand with the Bishop and his opinion on the death penalty.
