It's Symbolic

1. Please describe three examples of symbols you encounter in your life.

Three examples of symbols that I encounter in my life are white butterflies, they are supposed to symbolize your ancestors watching over you. Next, trees that symbolize life in my culture and are alive themselves so they must be treated with respect. Lastly, flowers, which we often have at home, mean something beautiful, and when given to someone can symbolize that you care about that person.

2. Please describe two possible meanings of the green light at the end of Daisy's dock in The Great Gatsby.

The green light at the end of Daisy's dock in The Great Gatsby could have possibly meant how Daisy gave Jay life, green is frequently called the color of life, Jay lived to re-unite himself with Daisy. It could have just as well meant the riches Jay had and how Daisy may have been very greedy at times, wanting more wealth for herself.

3. What are some ways people are similar to animals?

People are similar to animals in many ways, we share many basic functions to survive and continue our species. For example, both animals and humans share the instinct to secure food, find shelter, reproduce among other things

4. What is the one major way people are different from every other animal, including other hominid species?

Though animals and humans are quite similar in some ways, one major way people are different is our incredible and unique ability to tell stories. Humans tell stories for many reasons, sometimes it's to pass down knowledge, other times it's to entertain, but often it is to convey symbolism, leaving the reader thinking about what the author truly meant.

Telling stories, inventing symbols, can empower people to organize in large numbers by motivating them. Stories can remind people that change is possible and to never give up fighting for a better future.
