Les Mis Book 2 Ch 2

This chapter of Les Mis was tense because you know the awkwardness that is coming. Madame Magloire is talking especially bad of the outsider and pushing hard on the Bishop to get the locks repaired so that they will be safe. Even the Bishop's sister recommends that the Bishop make sure he was listening to the Madame. However, in the previous chapter, we have seen what the outsider has had to suffer through just to have the opportunity of food and shelter. Then, in the midst of their talking the outsider knocks which will make a very uncomfortable atmosphere. Honestly, I feel bad for the outsider, just because he is a criminal does not mean he would suffer this bad. Even the Bishop's household is biased against him.
