We start off Les Mis Ch 11 by the bishop criticizing other bishops that are living in luxury because if they are living in luxury, how are they helping the poor? You can not be by the poor, helping the poor, without yourself becoming humble as well. Then we learn the Bishop has two brothers and is slightly disapproving of one. In addition to learning more about the bishop's family, we also learn that he does not want to involve himself in politics but admired the fight for freedom. Then there is talk about an old commander who was kicked out on the streets with his family but was helped by the bishop.
