Les Mis Ch 8

This chapter of Les Miserables was interesting, we start by being introduced to Count Egad, who is said to be smart, a man who was decent. However, he has created his own philosophy and rambles on for a while. Count Egad's philosophy focuses on living life without making sacrifices for others, you only live once, and after death who can hold you accountable? Live for yourself, do not suffer for others because in the end, you are just dust. I do not know if I understood this correctly but, the bishop responds very sarcastically. The bishop responds with oh yes live only for yourself, this is something only a rich man can do, I congratulate you.
